We excavate, prepare and drain the base properly before a single block is laid or a load of tarmac arrives. Edges and borders are finished cleanly, and drainage is designed in so rainwater has somewhere to go.

What Usually Goes Wrong

Sinking and rutted drives

A thin base fails under the weight of modern cars, and the surface goes with it.

The fix Full-depth excavation and a properly compacted sub-base before any surface goes down.

Puddles and flooding

A drive laid without falls sends rainwater to the lowest point, often your door.

The fix Falls and drainage designed in from the start, soakaways and channels where needed.

Weeds and loose blocks

Poor edging lets a block drive spread, and then everything works loose.

The fix Solid edge restraints and proper jointing keep the surface tight for years.

Driveways: Common Questions

What driveway surfaces do you lay?

Block paving, tarmac, resin bound and gravel. Which one suits depends on the slope, the drainage and what you want it to look like.

Do you take the old driveway up?

Yes, dig out and take away, then the sub-base goes in properly. Most driveway failures we are called back to are a sub-base that was never deep enough.

How long does a driveway take?

A typical two car driveway is three to five days from dig out to finished, weather allowing.

Do you charge for a quote?

No. The site visit and the written quote are both free, and there is no obligation either way. If we think the job does not need doing, or needs doing differently, we will tell you that instead of quoting for it.

Do you want a deposit up front?

No deposit. You pay when the work is finished and you are happy with it. There is also a 14 day cooling off period as standard.

Which areas do you cover?

Morecambe, Heysham, Lancaster, Carnforth, Bolton-le-Sands, Barrow-in-Furness and across to Kendal and the south Lakes. If you are just outside, ask anyway.
