Penetrating damp

Damp Proofing: Common Questions

How do you know what is causing the damp?

We look before we quote. Most damp we are called to turns out to be a failed gutter, cracked render, bridged ground levels or poor ventilation rather than rising damp, and those cost far less to put right.

Will I definitely need a damp proof course?

Often not. We will tell you if the honest answer is that the fix is outside the wall, or that it is a heating and ventilation problem.

Do you treat the plaster afterwards?

Yes. Once the cause is dealt with the wall is dried and made good, so you are not left with the mess.

Do you charge for a quote?

No. The site visit and the written quote are both free, and there is no obligation either way. If we think the job does not need doing, or needs doing differently, we will tell you that instead of quoting for it.

Do you want a deposit up front?

No deposit. You pay when the work is finished and you are happy with it. There is also a 14 day cooling off period as standard.
